Delightfully Chic Goes Under Construction

So I've been MIA the past couple of days and I can't promise tomorrow will

be any different.  If you follow us on Instagram or Facebook you know

that Delightfully Chic is undergoing an exciting transformation.

This week I have been busy working on the new website and

lots of fun things that are in store.

Just hang in there with me...I promise to be back on Monday (if not tomorrow)

with a complete weekend wrap up and all sorts of fun stuff!

Quote of the Week {Weekend Wrap Up}

Finally!  We had a somewhat calm weekend and kept close to the house!!
We kicked things off Saturday morning with Carley Grace’s very first dance recital!
I was one proud Aunt Tiff!  She did amazing!  I wish I had a shot of “CG” and my beautiful best friend Rebecca and her husband Greg and their little twinkle toes, but those are on the other camera and haven’t been downloaded just yet! Here are a few shots of CG and sweet lil’ sister Raylee (posing with her special flowers she received too)! 

After the show was over- We raced home to get started on house work!  Scott and his friend Josh cut down lots of low hanging tree branches while I conquered laundry, a consignment store planter pot, and our mailbox!  Give this girl a roll of blue tape and a can of spray paint and 

I’ll take on the world!

 

 

 Last weekend I picked up this $4 planter to repot my basil 

plant that has out grown it's current pot.  I love the way it turned out and it

matches our Thrill, Fill, Spill pots!  

Now you know it wouldn’t be a weekend at The Gaither’s unless we went out for a cruise!  

 Saturday night we went to my favorite restaurant since childhood, Skids!  It is absolutely the most appropriate place to take the truck!  Too much fun! 

Sunday we took in a few open houses!

How gorgeous is this home?!  It's just down from my in laws and I swoon over it 

every time we pass so I was so excited to finally take a look inside!

  

And, yall that was IT for us this weekend! 

Sunday night was spent curled up on the couch watching Life of Crime.

What a quirky little movie!

DChic Teams-Up With Brittany Blake Photography

In January, one of my dearest girlfriends launched her much anticipated photography business, Brittany Blake Photography.  A-MA-ZING... Britt Britt (as I like to refer to her) has not only knocked my socks completely off, but, everyone who has had the chance to preview her work.

I was over the moon thrilled when Britt called me up a couple weeks back and said
"GIRL, we need to do some new pics of you for the blog and shop"...Well, let me just first say I couldn't have agreed more; but, more importantly, I have NEVER been shy of a camera or refused girl time.  So, of course, this was an offer I could not and would not refuse.

No surprise Britt in true photog fashion wanted to shoot in natural light (aka the only true light acceptable) even though deep down she wanted to snap the pics in the wee hours of the night.
Why, you might ask?!
Another little secret about yours truly, I have and will always be a night owl.  While the majority of people have the Cinderella effect of turning into a pumpkin at the stroke of midnight, I actually come to life the later it gets! 

But, no way would Britt let this effect her end goal!
We cranked up the 80's rock tunes and my darling girlfriend even used a few of the jokes she uses on her kiddos during their shoots to get me busting a gut with laughter!

I will let you all be the judge of how the shoot turned out...

I Spy {A Monochromatic Roundup}

By now you are fully aware that Pantone named Emerald the color of 2013.  I could not have been more thrilled with the news as the hue compliments just about every skin tone and shade of tresses in my opinion.  BUT, I say let’s not limit ourselves to only rich Emerald tones and in no way should you limit this gorgeous shade to your clothing only!

I Spy {Vine}

Surely you have heard the insane amount of buzz going around every media porthole about Vine, the new app launched by Twitter on Thursday.

Of course I joined, I am a social media addict and not ashamed  to admit.  Ok, possibly a touch shameful of the amount of time I allow it to consume each and everyday of my life but, let's be real as a blogger and online boutique owner social media is must!

Have you joined yet?  Do you like the app?
Here is my personal review and thoughts on the new app!

Pros

-Similar to instagram (which we all love and adore) but,

bonus now in 6 second video clips instead of still shots

-Super user friendly

-No editing needed

-New fresh concept and avenue to brand your business or blog

-Seeing lots of familiar faces on the app already

Cons

-Another social media site to maintain

-Porn appeared under the "editors pick" yesterday- (YUCK)

(no worries it has now been removed and hopefully blocked)

I have posted two video clips so far and I have to admit it was kinda fun and quickly addicting.

Immediately, my wheels started turning thinking what would I shoot next and how could I best incorporate Vine into the #dchic world?!

I Spy: Treats

Treats...that's right, no tricks up this sleeve!! 

I wanted to take a quick second in between tying up loose ends with the DC Shop and packing for what seems to be a new fall/winter tradition of traveling to fab cities for complete shenanigans with the brother, to give you a little ear candy this Halloween Night!  

If I were not in my comfy's with hair in pony packing, I would love nothing more than to be hosting a spooktackular (sorry, couldn't resist the opportunity to say such a frightastic (oops there I go again) word- ha) soiree for all my dear friends and fam.  Since, this amazing party will have to go on hold until next year I decided to create a playlist full of halloween delight for my packing and your listening pleasure!
