The Perfect DIY for Festival Season

It's almost festival season and with Coachella set to kickoff
April 10th a DIY on Flower Crowns just seemed like a must!

Everyone in favor of a little flower power say TULIP!
Haha, sorry I couldn't resist the cheesy moment!

So now that you just had an overload of complete gorgeousness I'll turn things over
to Jen of Green Wedding Shoes for your 7 steps to floral perfection!

Here's a peek of steps 4-7

I know, you're now totally dying to start prepping for this
weekends project! No special event or festival to attend...
No biggie, I plan to repaint our basketball goal this weekend, maybe
I'll jazz things up a bit, play a game of horse with the hubby all
while rocking my flower crown of course?!

Quote of the Week

Why complicate things?
Keep it simple and start with baby steps.
A step in the right direction is better than no step at all.

Happy Monday...I hope your weekend was amazing!

Fashion Fix Friday {It's a White Out}

Happy Friday to all you wild and crazy kids!
I’m loving this week’s Fashion Fix Friday because it’s all about white!
My girlfriends joke with me constantly because anytime there is an option to
paint something or style just about anything
there are two colors I constantly say…WHITE and GOLD!
I can’t help it- It’s clean, it’s crisp, and it adds just the right amount of glam!
So today, we are talking all white outfits accessorized with duh GOLD!

"One Thing at a Time" {Where's the Fun in That?}

As my husband, Scott likes to tell me,
"focus on one thing at a time" BUT, I say, where's the fun in that?
Tomorrow my rock-star of a brother, Brent and my daddy, or as I like to call him, the
man who hung the moon, will be at our home painting an accent wall in our family room.
I have an obsession with accent walls.
Once this wall is complete, that little present my mom dropped off on Saturday that I
told you about on Monday will be going up for all to see.
I am still on the hunt for 4 gold frames to also hang on this wall.
Sounds simple enough right?
Wrong!  I'm picky (yes I admit it) and I will know it when I see it!
Here's where the "focus on one thing at a time" comes in.
Yes, the gold frames are priority to complete the wall decor
but, a new coffee table is also priority in completing the overall look of the room!
Can I get an Amen on that?!

So, today as I put the hunt for gold frames on pause, I press play on the search for
a new coffee table.  Here is a round up of what I've found so far!

What do you think of using a bench as a coffee table?
The more I ponder this idea the more I'm loving?!

For the Love of Cooking {Monuts Donuts}

Today we are mixing things up a little on For the Love of Cooking!
Instead of sharing a recipe I decided to share a restaurant
that is as quirky and unique as it is delicious!

Good food unites, good people inspire and good jobs support is the belief
that Monuts Donuts lives by and I for one just find this super refreshing!

Monuts is a new local hotspot in Durham, North Carolina that is owned and operated by Chefs Lindsay Moriarty and Rob Gillespie.  Lindsay actually started the business out by scooting around town on a re-purposed tricycle serving up her delicious homemade doughnuts.  It didn’t take long before Lindsay was the talk and total hit of all the local food truck roundups.

So glad, they have found a permanent home in Durham and
we have the chance to enjoy them daily!

I actually stopped by the hotspot this morning for breakfast!
Umm...Seconds Please!

Why handout boring ole numbers when you can hand out donkeys, bears, and
seismosaurus cards?! Who the heck has even heard of this creature before? Now thanks
to Monuts I know all about this plant eating dino!

If you are ever in the area make sure you put this on your to do list!

Place Setting 101

No matter the occasion or the guest count, a properly set table is a simple statement that shows detail and care has gone into the planning of your soiree.  BUT, if you are anything like me, you might second guess how to properly set your table.  So, I decided to put our wedding china to use for a crash course in basic place setting of your table.

Today I am showing how to set your table for a semi-formal dinner.

Semi-Formal Setting

To adjust this setting to a more casual placement simply remove the bevy of glasses (sorry, I turned into a slight slush for the moment) and only place your water and white wine glass.  You would also remove your salad fork, soup spoon, and cup and saucer.

And, there you have it! Quick and simple and your guest will be more than impressed!

Quote of the Week

How was your first weekend of spring?!
I have to say it was absolutely gorgeous but, our plans to tackle yard-work
were cut short by soggy ground!
We did however, get a few pictures hung around the house and my AMAZING mama
surprised me Saturday morning with a wall hanging I have been hunting for a few months now.
I am hoping to have it in place in the next week or so after we do
some painting and will be sharing all the details!

In the meantime let’s continue to dream of flowers and all things spring.
