Quote of the Week {Weekend Wrap Up}

I hope you all had a happy and safe Halloween and
didn't get into too much mischief!

We had a somewhat busy but fun weekend!

Friday night we went to dinner with our dear friends who are
newly engaged!  We couldn't be more happy for these two
and so glad we got to celebrate them with a fun dinner to hear
all the amazing details!

On Saturday I was up early working on Baby G's nursery!
I put on a little Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald
and had the most perfect bonding moment with my little one
as we celebrated the big 20 Weeks and halfway point!

Saturday night! It was time to handout a few treats and
then Scott and I went out with my bestie and a little Sky from Paw Patrol
and the most precious little dinosaur you've ever seen. You should hear her roar!

Ready and waiting for the kiddos to arrive!
I had to keep Scott away from the candy!

Sunday it was more DIY's and projects around the house.
Then we had lunch with our Mama's and wrapped up the rainy
weekend with a fall favorite!  Hot Apple Cider!

I usually like to mix our Biltmore Wassail with red wine (beyond amazing)
but this year I will have to keep on mixing with cider!  Just as amazing!

***

Can you believe it's November?!
Do you feel the holiday spirit starting to take over?!
I sure do!  I am trying to be extra patient and wait a couple more
weeks before Santa's Workshop completely explodes at our house.
I love love love decorating for Christmas! I personally think every room
should have a little holiday spirit in it!

Wishing you all a wonderful week
and I really hope this quote reminds you to always give thanks.
Be it November, the month of Thanks or any other day of the year.

Sophisticated In White {Fall Decor}

One of my favorite seasons to decorate for is Fall.
There is something about the cooler season and deep rich tones that just gives you that warm and fuzzy feeling of comfort.  As I updated you a couple post back, Scott and I are currently selling our home and guess what…as of  last Friday night, we have accepted an offer!!! Yippee!! Unfortunately, having the house on the market means I had to dial back my fun and festive fall décor but, I couldn’t help but gush over these clean white round with perfection style options.  I still say you must toss in a few deeper hues here and there but, you can never go wrong with clean and ever so elegant white.  Next, year in our new home (fingers crossed) white with pops of orange and deep red is what you will find at the Gaither “estate”!

How do you decorate for the fall months?
Do yo stick with the classics or mix it up a bit?

I Spy {Halloween Movie Picks}

I will be the first to admit I am at TOTAL scaredy cat! I am talking almost 32 years old and STILL scared of the dark! That’s right I keep a night light in my room… #noshameinmygame
I love Halloween but, I do not need scary people covered in fake blood jumping out at me or some ax murderer haunting my dreams.  I made the mistake of seeing the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake, you know the one with Jessica Biel back in 2003? Well after sitting through the entire movie curled up in a tiny ball with my eyes covered 90% of the time I swore my days of attempting to watch horror movies was OVER! So when it comes to scary movies I keep it pretty PG.
Here are a few of my faves that are fun for the whole fam and a few that will scare ya just enough but, won’t have you sleeping with one eye open!

Quote Of The Week

When witches go riding,
and black cats are seen,
the moon laughs and whispers,
‘tis near Halloween.

For the Love of Cooking

I am so not a fan of scrapping ice off of my windshield while praying my frigid fingers don’t break in half from the temps! Fan or not, there is no slowing down old man winter and today we are having our first super cold day in NC.   I have a feeling this year is going to be one for the books! On days like today there is nothing better than a super delish and extra hot soup.
I think this Pumpkin Chowder might be the ticket!

Swoonin' and Givin' in to White Perfection

Whether it's an all white room, white flooring, a white picket fence, crisp white linens, or gorgeous, perfectly chic in every way white pumpkins, I swoon!
I'm not sure if this year's white pumpkins are just more fab than years past but, I have seriously been having a major obsession with them.  I feel like they are everywhere I turn.
I decided to still go the traditional route and picked up my usual orange pumpkins {they just fit the look of my home better}.  BUT, immediately after paying for them I caved just a little and turned around and swooped up the most dainty and precious white pumpkin.  I HAD to have at least one!
Now that all pumpkins are in place and the house looks festive for the fall months one would think I'd be content, right?!   Who am I kidding?! I'm STILL obsessing and can't let the thought of all the beautiful white ones from the pumpkin patch go.
I do believe this weekend I will just have to bring a few more home!
Now, I have to start deciding how and where to incorporate these statement making darlings!

I Spy: Treats

Treats...that's right, no tricks up this sleeve!!

I wanted to take a quick second in between tying up loose ends with the DC Shop and packing for what seems to be a new fall/winter tradition of traveling to fab cities for complete shenanigans with the brother, to give you a little ear candy this Halloween Night!

If I were not in my comfy's with hair in pony packing, I would love nothing more than to be hosting a spooktackular (sorry, couldn't resist the opportunity to say such a frightastic (oops there I go again) word- ha) soiree for all my dear friends and fam.  Since, this amazing party will have to go on hold until next year I decided to create a playlist full of halloween delight for my packing and your listening pleasure!

I hope you enjoy and embrace only happy spirits tonight!

ps...The link will direct you to the DC facebook fan page where you will need to "like" if you have not already to access playlist!

Stop back by next week...I'll be sharing pics from this years brother/sister getaway!
But, until then, here are a few of my faves from our trip last year to NYC full of Christmas shopping, cocktails with our friends in the city, and most of all, lots of laughter!

For The Love Of Cooking

Who's ready for Halloween?!
I for one love the holiday and decorating for the occasion...No not creepy scary stuff, cute little bootiful decor of course.  I am only a fan of nice witches and happy ghost! ;)

I've said it a million times in my life so here goes a million and one,"if ever God decides to bless me with a child (hopefully several babes)"  I would totally be the mom who made a big event out of baking treats for the holiday!

How precious and fun are these?!

I Spy: Fall Wreaths

Ok...I am going to be honest here and I really hope I don't offend anyone but, am I the only one who is NOT into the deco mesh wreaths that we are seeing on what seems to be EVERY door front the past few seasons??
I hate to admit that I have yet to put a wreath on my front door in the three years I've been in my home.  To me, a wreath for fall and winter is just a staple piece so why I have not put one up is beyond me.  I'm actually more surprised that I haven't pulled up to my house to see a beautiful wreath perfectly placed by my sweet mama!

We are officially in the fall season and before I let another moment pass while rocking a bare door front, I simply must halt all other projects and invest in a wreath.  I would love nothing more than to turn this into a  DIY but, I think I will save the craft time for a holiday wreath.

Here are a few that catch my eye...

DIY's & Me Time

Happy Friday!

I plan to make this weekend all about ME!  I am way overdue for a quiet weekend.  The plan is to kick things off tonight by "re-organizing" my home office.  Saturday will start with a mani-pedi followed by mimosas at Mimi's with my sweet mama!  After I am nice and relaxed I  think a Halloween diy is just what I need.  If I'm being honest, there is no way I will completely exclude all social activities this weekend so, a quick sushi date with friends Saturday night is a must.  THEN, it's back to the homestead to finish up the wall collage I have been working on in my guest bedroom.

So what DIY will I be attempting this weekend?
A Skeleton Tee, do I really need a shredded t-shirt? No...  Are there not other diy's I could start around the house that would be more appropriate or more of a necessity?  Well, I'm sure there are but, will they be as cool as this one?? NO...so decision made, weekend diy = skeleton tee that I will 100% be rocking before boo-time arrives and possibly after! ; )

Below are two fun how to's on making the festive shirt.

Of course Queen Martha has tackled such a project!

What are your plans for the weekend?
Any diy's you're planning?
