Snow Day & Spring Daydreams

Last night started our first official snow storm of the winter for North Carolina.

We woke up to about 2 inches of snow covered with lots of slippery ice.

I know, I know, most would NOT call this a snow storm but hey,

we are in the south, and even a flake of snow clears the bread and milk 

shelves around these parts! 

After snoozing for an extra hour this morning the husband and I lounged 

for a while then bundled up to walk the neighborhood to "survey" the roads.

Next, a Starbucks run and our usual weekly trip to Lowes! 

To warm up a little we decided to head to the garden section

and start gathering a touch of inspiration for spring.

My wheels have been turning ever since.

Magnolia {Farmhouse Chic}

One of my and Scott's favorite shows to watch is Fixer Upper on HGTV.  If you aren’t familiar with the show, stop what you are doing and set your DVR to record!! You will absolutely fall in love with Joanna and Chip Gaines, the muscle and beauty behind each gorgeous reno!  Not only are these two ridiculously talented, but, they are one of the most loving and compassionate couples on TV.  It’s an extremely nice break from a lot of garbage {to put it nicely}  that fills our airwaves today.

Joanna has a few signature pieces she is known for and I’ll be sharing more next week but, today I wanted to share one of “Jo Jo’s” (as Chip calls her) go to fixer upper farmhouse meets glam pieces…The sliding barn door!  My very best friend Rebecca and her husband Greg are in the process of building their forever home on a huge plot of family land that will be oozing in old farmhouse beauty and this is one statement piece I’m dying to see her incorporate!  I can hardly stand the wait to see this gem!!

I Spy {Rustic Chic}

As of last week my car is officially paid off and the title arrived in the mail yesterday!!! Woohoo!!

My parents are beyond proud of me (and slightly shocked I’m sure) for making the responsible decision to hang on to my car for at least two more years and enjoy not having a car payment. Fingers crossed I can stick it out that long. I’m a car lover and I’m sure most of you will agree there is nothing quite like the smell of a new car.

With that being said, there is now extra $$ burning one severe hole in my pocket.

I am going to try really hard to save as much as I can but, for the last 4 years I have been dying to fence in my backyard. So…let the planning begin!!

One thing I know I would like is a unique, rustically chic door to add some character to the fencing.

Of course I plan to pick up a few glossies for inspiration but, I’m addicted to pinterest as I’m sure you are too, and have grabbed a little inspiration from our online addiction as well.

And hello, I'm obsessed! 

If only this gate would keep my 5lb fur ball Presley from sprinting through!

I Spy {Swoon Worthy Outdoor Escapes}

A while back I posted about my dream home where I am determined to one day reside. I still dream daily of living a carefree life beachside with my little kiddos and hubs-hmm wait, do I have to do the hubby part?! JK! However, a second dream of mine is to adopt…so in that case I could totally skip the husband part right?! ; ) Anyway, as you can probably guess I am not quite at the point in my life that I can just pack up everything I own and skip town for a tropical locale. All in due time!

Until then, we can feast our eyes on these outdoor escapes that send my perfection meter into overload!

Happy Summer (Solstice) Day!!

The time has come to kick off my favorite season...OK who am I kidding, it's been summer in my world since March!

As soon as the workday is behind me I plan to spend every remaining second of the longest day of the year outside.  Preferably with my girlfriends and a citrusy cocktail in hand!

I Spy: Beachiness

My desire to pack up and relocate to the beach doesn't seem to be going away anytime soon.

Today I keep catching myself swooning over coastal spaces that have me seriously contemplating putting my house on the market...like today! 

I love my current home, I'm just kind of over the location.  I'm 100% that person who gets bored easily and needs change every couple of years. 

I wish I could just pick my home up and move it east to sand and sea.

Mad Men Inspired

Yesterday as I was hard at work, Spotify was on as usual (I'd die without the constant sound of tunes playing in the background).  I decided to mix up my usual tunes for the "Mad Men" playlist that Spotify offers.  It was a total score much like this MM inspired 1960's townhouse featured in

It's the perfect amount of NYC posh with fab throwback flare.
