I Spy: Treats

Treats...that's right, no tricks up this sleeve!!

I wanted to take a quick second in between tying up loose ends with the DC Shop and packing for what seems to be a new fall/winter tradition of traveling to fab cities for complete shenanigans with the brother, to give you a little ear candy this Halloween Night!

If I were not in my comfy's with hair in pony packing, I would love nothing more than to be hosting a spooktackular (sorry, couldn't resist the opportunity to say such a frightastic (oops there I go again) word- ha) soiree for all my dear friends and fam.  Since, this amazing party will have to go on hold until next year I decided to create a playlist full of halloween delight for my packing and your listening pleasure!

I hope you enjoy and embrace only happy spirits tonight!

ps...The link will direct you to the DC facebook fan page where you will need to "like" if you have not already to access playlist!

Stop back by next week...I'll be sharing pics from this years brother/sister getaway!
But, until then, here are a few of my faves from our trip last year to NYC full of Christmas shopping, cocktails with our friends in the city, and most of all, lots of laughter!

For The Love Of Cooking

The mere sight of the word Morocco stops me in my tracks.  So, when I browsed through the delicious recipes of the 101 Cookbooks Blog it was a no-brainer that Heidi's (the talent behind 101)  Moroccan Mint Roasted Veggies would be this weeks recipe.

Now here is a dish I have full confidence in duplicating!
Mint, cumin, cinnamon, ginger...need I continue?!

I Spy: Fall Boots

What's your style?
I personally need to add a new pair of riding and biker boots to my collection.
Last year I bought the most kick booty buckles but, buyer's remorse set in (this rarely happens) so I knew I probably should return the not so necessary boots and who knows...Maybe pay my power bill???!  A year later and I STILL regret returning those bad boys BUT, at least I survived the winter and didn't freeze to death!  ; )
Here are a few I'm lusting after this year...and here's hoping buyer's remorse is a thing of the past!

I don't know about you but, for me music is a must!
I can't even imagine the amount of hours I have spent listening or dancing to music throughout my life.  It just makes my soul perk up and smile!

For The Love Of Cooking

Who's ready for Halloween?!
I for one love the holiday and decorating for the occasion...No not creepy scary stuff, cute little bootiful decor of course.  I am only a fan of nice witches and happy ghost! ;)

I've said it a million times in my life so here goes a million and one,"if ever God decides to bless me with a child (hopefully several babes)"  I would totally be the mom who made a big event out of baking treats for the holiday!

How precious and fun are these?!

I Spy: Fall Wreaths

Ok...I am going to be honest here and I really hope I don't offend anyone but, am I the only one who is NOT into the deco mesh wreaths that we are seeing on what seems to be EVERY door front the past few seasons??
I hate to admit that I have yet to put a wreath on my front door in the three years I've been in my home.  To me, a wreath for fall and winter is just a staple piece so why I have not put one up is beyond me.  I'm actually more surprised that I haven't pulled up to my house to see a beautiful wreath perfectly placed by my sweet mama!

We are officially in the fall season and before I let another moment pass while rocking a bare door front, I simply must halt all other projects and invest in a wreath.  I would love nothing more than to turn this into a  DIY but, I think I will save the craft time for a holiday wreath.

Here are a few that catch my eye...

I Spy: Comfy's

Believe it or not, I have already started my list to Santa.
This year I am trying to be really sensible with only one or two HM requests
(cough cough Frye boots & A McQueen scarf).
Topping my practical list, a new pair of bum arounds!

My current pair of slippers should have met the trash long before now BUT, they’re kinda like an old comfy sweatshirt.  Once it turns into a total hotmess and friends and family are begging you to please burn because they swear the store STILL sales sweats… Well hello that’s when it provides the most comfort and becomes unbearable to part with.

DIY's & Me Time

Happy Friday!

I plan to make this weekend all about ME!  I am way overdue for a quiet weekend.  The plan is to kick things off tonight by "re-organizing" my home office.  Saturday will start with a mani-pedi followed by mimosas at Mimi's with my sweet mama!  After I am nice and relaxed I  think a Halloween diy is just what I need.  If I'm being honest, there is no way I will completely exclude all social activities this weekend so, a quick sushi date with friends Saturday night is a must.  THEN, it's back to the homestead to finish up the wall collage I have been working on in my guest bedroom.

So what DIY will I be attempting this weekend?
A Skeleton Tee, do I really need a shredded t-shirt? No...  Are there not other diy's I could start around the house that would be more appropriate or more of a necessity?  Well, I'm sure there are but, will they be as cool as this one?? NO...so decision made, weekend diy = skeleton tee that I will 100% be rocking before boo-time arrives and possibly after! ; )

Below are two fun how to's on making the festive shirt.

Of course Queen Martha has tackled such a project!

What are your plans for the weekend?
Any diy's you're planning?

For The Love Of Cooking

It's harvest season in apple land and as I have NEVER been to an orchard I would love nothing more than to start a new fall tradition.

Hopefully, I can make it this year (if I'm not too late) and pick a few for today's recipe.
I love baked apple pie and in no way do I intend to replace the dish however, a simpler and lower calorie version will definitely be added into the fall rotation.

See the quick and easy recipe here...

Have you ever been to an Apple Orchard?
Where do you suggest I visit?  Any in North Carolina?

I Spy: Zara Headed to the States

Eek!  Have you heard the news?

The Zara Home Collection will be making its debut in the States next Tuesday, on October 9th!
I have been a fan of Zara since the first time I walked into the clothing store in Paris, France.
What I love most is the fashion forward threads at such reasonable prices.  I have no doubt the home collection will be nothing short of fabulous.

Here's a sneak peek of Zara Collections around the world!

Elle Mag shared all the juicy details on what can be expected in the upcoming collection...

"70 percent of the goods are textiles (bed, bath, and table linen), and there will also be furniture, tableware, cutlery, and decorative accessories,
including loungewear and gift items"

Stop by Elle for more info and exclusive pics!

Quote Of The Week

"Never be afraid to fall apart because it is an opportunity to rebuild yourself the way you wish you had been all along."
-Rae Smith

Happy October 1st!
Have you noticed the changing leaves of fall? Gorgeous!

Quick Tip:
via a very dear friend
Pumpkins will last longer if you avoid sitting them directly onto concrete surfaces-
Place a piece of wood underneath them or slip a "throw away do not eat" packet
(you know those annoying packets that come in new products) inside your pumpkins!
