My April Wish List

You know how there are those items that you want and then those that you need...

Well... I NEED every single one of these and I don't believe for a second any of these are a "want"!
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

April Wish List

First up - this Malibu Skye Straw Bucket Bag is giving me life and um...yeah it's $68

Kendra Scott just launched her candle collection and I have yet to smell however, it's KS and we know we are all going to immediately love every scent!

American Eagle is a store that I haven't shopped in like YEARS, but I have to give it to them! Lately I am finding super adorable clothes at AE and recently some crazy amazing sandals at awesome prices. I've never been a huge fan of pink, but lately I seem to be gravitating to the softer tones like these perfect for spring and summer sandals.

Let's be real...Fixer Upper might have come to an end, but Jo Jo is here to stay.  I am so excited to get my hands on her new cookbook!

Ok! Let's talk the Opal House Collection!! It screams Anthropologie, but is crazy affordable and I need pretty much the whole collection! HA! I will most likely do a completely separate post on OH to show yall all the amazing items, but let's start with two items that I would love to add in our downstairs bathroom! The teal blue soap dispenser - this color is everything! The palm leaf canvas prints are pretty much what I'm counting on to pull this space together!
They are sold as a set for only $74!!

Last, if you have followed me for any length of time you know that I developed melasama during pregnancy.  This pretty much meant that my carefree days of soaking up sun rays were over.  I've always used spf on my face, but now I also toss on a hat! This Madewell straw hat is just what I need for our beach trips this year!

So I have to know...Have you shopped the Opal House Collection?
What did you purchase? What did you love?

Master Bath Reno

For what seems like way too many months now I have been working on our Master Bath Renovation.  It was a simple and budget friendly update that I had hoped to knock out in just a couple of weekends, but as with most home projects there were a few setbacks.

Before we go any further here is a look at the master bath stripped down prior to its little face lift!

I don't have a good quality pic to show you a before of the window, but prior to the update there was a privacy film on it.  That was the very first thing I removed!  I LOVE natural light and see no reason to keep it out.

The black and white tile floor and subway and marble shower details I am a total fan of so that was a huge relief and cost saver. Basically for this reno we would only be updating the pale green walls, hardware, and decor.

Usually, I can paint a room of this size in a couple of hours.  However, I quickly discovered that the previous homeowners who had purchased our home and did a quick flip within a year (which I am totally grateful for) had pulled wallpaper down and left glue sporadically behind.  Ugh!!! I’ve never seen paint looks so terrible on a wall, total disaster.  I then tried to take on sanding and priming the walls and I lasted for about um...30 minutes!  I had to call in back up aka Daddy to take over.  The smell of the primer was just too much for these little lungs of mine.

In addition to painting the walls, I also gave the window trim, molding, and ceiling a fresh coat of paint.

The abstract artwork I hung where the towel rack used to be is actually printable/digital downloads from Etsy!  I printed the images on cardstock paper and picked up frames from Michael's! I felt super frugal and proud of myself for thinking outside the box.

After the walls were done, I started painting all of the hardware.  The lighting fixture, the cabinet handles, even the toilet paper holder.  They were a brushed silver originally.  I try with every room I update to stay on budget and cut costs where I can.  I loved our hardware just not the color.  So out came my trusty bottle of spray paint.  I could not get over what a difference the color change made.  I also changed our current mirror from white to black to add a more dramatic contrast to the white walls.

Next I had Scott step in to help and we tackled the shelving.  I’ll be honest, the shelving was a vision I was determined to bring to life.  I knew I not only wanted to see these handmade shelves by Scott and I in our master bath, but I also wanted to see them in the

Did I mention the store opens THIS WEEK and these darling shelves can be YOURS?!

Finally, everything was in place and it was time to pull in the décor, my favorite part.

In the end this small renovation took longer than expected, but I couldn't be happier with the end results. The space feels bright and roomy and that was my overall end goal.

One weekend soon I hope to tackle a Roman shade for the window, but honestly I am loving all the light that pours in every morning and afternoon!

The Details
Paint Color - Benjamin Moore, Decorators White (my all time fave)
Printable Artwork - Etsy
Jute Basket - TJ Maxx
Jute Rug - Bed Bath & Beyond
Accent Decor - Hobby Lobby, Michael's, and Local Antique Stores

Let's Go Bananas

I'm a total fan of wallpaper done right.
Do I currently have any wall coverings in our home?
Nope! But, if I did you could bet that these gorgeous banana leafs would
be floor to ceiling at The Gaither's.
My wheels are turning on where I can implement this look in our home.
Hmm...

The Search Continues {For the Perfect Rug}

Since day one of moving into our new home
I  have struggled with finding the perfect rug for 3 particular spaces.
Our downstairs bathroom, our upstairs guest bathroom, and our breakfast nook.
I "think" I know what I want and I usually can find what I am looking for, but then
sticker shock sets in.  I refuse to invest an insane amount into a gorgeous rug and
then constantly stress them getting dirty when little ones come along.
I want beautiful rugs, but at a reasonable price, that I can enjoy!

Here's where I'm at on the search and
I'm feeling really good about these prices!
As much as I would completely die for a one of a kind Persian Rug,
5k plus just isn't in the budget!

All of these I am loving for our guest bathroom!
 distressed

And here is where the "I think"
I know exactly what I want falls apart!

I cannot for the life of me commit to a color scheme!

And the downstairs bathroom...

Do you have go to shops for your rugs?!
Spill the beans!  This girl needs help!

The Color of Love {Red}

In honor of Valentines and in keeping with my theme of love this week,
I figured today we could use a little motivation to get us pumped up
for the big day with pops of red!

The color of love, passion, energy, and power!

Here are few spaces that inspire and excite me!

How could you not grab a cocktail, kickback with a devlish grin while saying
cheers darling and feeling like a complete diva in this room?

 Give me tufted any day!

For all my Fixer Upper fans out there,
you will recognize this gorgeous kitchen space!
Are we all dying to take a trip to Round Top after this episode?!

This bedroom makes me think of my sweet mama, the only thing
I believe she would say is missing is a rooster!

Is that Kelly Wearstler trellis I spy?!
Never goes out of style in these eyes!

Claw foot tub always a win, claw foot tub in red...Perfection!

I Spy {Happily Ever After in NYC}

My nearest and dearest know a tiny secret about me that for some time now has consumed my thoughts and everyday life. It wasn’t until recently that I realized I don’t believe I have ever shared with all of you. After years of sheer fear of the unknown, years of hanging around for long term relationships that did not turn into happily ever after, and more importantly a lifetime of never wanting to be more than a hop, skip, and a jump away from my family, I now at 31 years old have finally, yes FINALLY had my aha moment.

Let me ask you, if you had a degree in fashion merchandising where is the first place you would relocate to after graduation??!! Yeap New York City!! So, that is just what I plan to do…God willing! This is obviously a long process and of course taking a lot of planning and hard work but, I trust that God has lead me on the path that I am on today and He is the one leading me now. If this major move is what I am to do…I have zero doubt that it will ALL fall perfectly into place…all these years later. Like they say…timing is everything!

One thing I know I would miss would be my southern and I mean deep southern roots. The thought of no sweet tea…slightly earth shattering. Now, you will totally see why I was tickled to come across the home of artist Christopher Daniels and his now wife Alice Childress, Vice President, Advertising and Creative Services at Vera Wang over on Elle Décor. Both of these amazing talents hale from Charlottesville, Virginia and made sure to keep a touch of the south in their 1,500 Soho Apartment.

Here is a sneak peek but, PLEASE do stop by and see more shots of their gorgeously renovated pad as well as read how these two reunited and fell in love…in the city!

The vintage tube and amazing artwork turned the bathroom into my favorite spot of the entire apt.

Seriously, how fun and punchy is the unique addition of the surfboard/skateboard and colorful print?!
Great mix-up!

I Spy: Zara Headed to the States

Eek!  Have you heard the news?

The Zara Home Collection will be making its debut in the States next Tuesday, on October 9th!
I have been a fan of Zara since the first time I walked into the clothing store in Paris, France.
What I love most is the fashion forward threads at such reasonable prices.  I have no doubt the home collection will be nothing short of fabulous.

Here's a sneak peek of Zara Collections around the world!

Elle Mag shared all the juicy details on what can be expected in the upcoming collection...

"70 percent of the goods are textiles (bed, bath, and table linen), and there will also be furniture, tableware, cutlery, and decorative accessories,
including loungewear and gift items"

Stop by Elle for more info and exclusive pics!

It has been a busy but wonderful weekend!  Highlight of the weekend...Running my first 5K with my best friend since kindergarten!

We did great (for our first race)...finished in 33minutes and 4 seconds!!
It was so much fun and for a great cause!

How was your weekend?

After the race the first thing I wanted to do was soak in a hot bubble bath and relax...which immediately lead me to this weeks Sunday Sanctuary!

This bathroom is so inviting, it begs you to escape, relax and pamper yourself!
