Sunday Sanctuary: Delightfully Chic Home Office

Scott and I both have our own offices in our home and somehow I ended up with the smaller of the two!  Say What?  In all honesty there was something about the coziness of my office that really appealed to me.  It just felt right.  As I've said before I have been working room by room to redesign each space in our home.  My office has been so low on the list, but after Fi was born all of her wonderful distractions started to pull me away from blogging and my visions for Delightfully Chic.  I immediately knew I had to move the office up on the priority list to help keep me focused and inspired.

In order to de-clutter my thoughts, recharge my batteries and get this project underway I removed every single item from the office and started with a fresh coat of paint.  I went with one of my favorite colors, Decorators White by Benjamin Moore.  Then I pulled back in the items I knew I still wanted in the office.  My desk, chair, and stool from the original DC collection. That was it! Everything else will be finding a new landing place.  Now what?  Well, I plan to change the curtain rod, light fixture, purchase a new computer, add in wall art, plant life, and anything else that inspires me.

Here a few spaces that inspire me and follow my vision for the new Delightfully Chic office.

As more progress is made I'll make sure to keep you all posted and of course share the finished product once completed!

Happy Sunday!

Home Office {Take II}

One room in our house that I constantly put on the back burner is my office. I’ve had plans for this space since the day we moved in and recently have come to the decision that making plans just isn’t cutting it anymore.  I’m ready to see my workspace come together.  Originally, I wanted to go with a color pallet of white, gray, and shades of pink and coral.  Of course a year later I’ve completely changed my mind.  Since this will be the home office of Delightfully Chic I really want it to reflect the brand.  So, gold, black, white, and silver it is.  As I pull together my inspiration board I am beyond excited to wrap up the nursery (we are about 70% of the way complete) and tackle my office.  The place where my creative juices and dreams will run wild!

 I currently have the chair and desk pictured above and those really are the "biggies"!
Yep, I think this time I might just get the job done!

Contemplating {Stripes}

Lately I have been pondering the idea (yet again) of adding wallpaper to our home.
There are so many cool patterns and variations of the once horrid and painful wall coverings that my wheels are turning.  But before I rush out to pick up a few rolls of the nightmare turned stylish goodness I think I want to first try something I’ve been wanting to do since my previous home.
Painted striped walls!
I previously wanted to paint my laundry room in horizontal yellow and white stripes.
Now I am thinking I need to feature an accent wall in my home office with simple black and white stripes. Thoughts?! Don’t you think this would be super fun and by only tackling a smaller accent wall this should be totally doable and completely stress free!   Right?!
I bet Sweet Mama is reading this post going,
“Oh my…if these lines aren’t completely straight and perfect everyone
prepare for a breakdown!” HA!
No worries, people.  I’ll be as cool as the flip side of my pillow!
That is, until perfection has been achieved! ;)

But, seriously, How FUN?!

I think in my office space I would go with vertical stripes but, still debating!
The other accent colors planned are soft shades of pink because what southern girl
doesn't love a little blush and bashful.  You can see my office inspiration in this post here.

Battle of the Sexes

Scott’s office is another room in the house that has been a work in progress.
As I’ve told you all before, Scott served 10 years in the Air Force and his dad served over
20 years in the Air Force.  So as you can guess Scott is no stranger to moving.
He was born in Japan, graduated high school in Iceland and has fought for our country on
3 tours overseas with countless moves in between.  For his office I envisioned a world map as the backdrop with a few shadow boxes to showcase his many accomplishments throughout the space.
We picked up the most awesome vintage teachers desk a while back for $30!!!
It gives off the most masculine and vintage feel.  I just love it!  Scott is on board with my envisions for the room except for the world map.  He is NOT a fan!
He instead would like to have a wood American Flag to hang behind his desk.  I have to admit I had already spied several on Pinterest that I loved but, I still had my eye on the world map.
Again, he’s traveled the world and I thought how cool?
Maybe even pin all the places he has been?  You know that say, “Pick your battles”
well I think I will wave my white flag on this one!
You win love...I think?!

What I envision...

What the hubby envisions...

And how gorgeous is this?!

I want to wish you all a safe and beautiful holiday weekend!
May we always remember and never forget those that selflessly fight for our country every day
so that we remain the land of the free and home of the brave!

Delightfully Chic {Office Inspiration}

 As you know there have been TONS of decorating projects going on in the Gaither house since we moved in back in November.  One room I keep putting off, but, absolutely cannot wait to see completed is my Delightfully Chic office.  I decided to keep my desk and chair from my previous office in my town-home because I still adore them so much.
When I brainstorm the new look of DChic I keep seeing soft tones of pink and coral with a
mix of grey and of course, white!

Here’s where I am currently at in the planning process...

Offices/Images that inspire me...

These silk drapes...I die!

Clean & Simple, my favorite combo!

What are your thoughts on the new color scheme?!
Love it? Hate it?!

Quote of the Week

These words will be hanging in my office...
Just as soon as I complete a few other items on the Gaither house to-do list!

Happy Monday! It's a rainy and dreary Monday here in NC.
But, hey, we all know how to dance in the rain right?!

I Spy {A Monochromatic Roundup}

By now you are fully aware that Pantone named Emerald the color of 2013.  I could not have been more thrilled with the news as the hue compliments just about every skin tone and shade of tresses in my opinion.  BUT, I say let’s not limit ourselves to only rich Emerald tones and in no way should you limit this gorgeous shade to your clothing only!
Here is a monochromatic roundup of the gorgeous shade I feel certain you will love!

1. delightfully chic {flower votive}
2. design darling {zebra matches}
3. bauble bar {emerald disco bangle}
4. zara home {ostrich appointment book}
5. shop/ten/25 {green richard nixon throw}
6. urban outfitters {frog salt and pep}
7. iomoi {set of 14 pens}
8. delightfully chic {ceramic plate}

I Spy...

Turquoise and Coral as you know are my two favorite colors;
especially when you pull them together in your daily threads or home decor.

My home office that is STILL in the works has touches of the two hues but, after surfing the web and of course the ever popular Pinterest I'm starting to think more rooms in my home will be seeing these two pops of color really soon!
