Quote of the Week {Weekend Wrap Up}

This past weekend was amazing!
We took a few days away from the chaos of everyday life
to escape to the beach with family.
We decided to head home yesterday, a day early
to make sure we had our country's beautiful stars and stripes
hanging high for all to see today on  Memorial Day.
We also, decided our lobster-like skin could use a day of rest from the sun!
So far, today has been a day of leisure and I'm loving every minute!

Here is a glimpse into our holiday weekend.  I tried to pry my hands from
all technology while away so I didn't snap too many moments but, they
are definitely tucked away safely in my memory!

There was beach time and one handsome "cab" driver
that scooped us up at the end of the day!

And we fished off the deck at the in laws beach home.
Daddy Gaither had some success!
Scott caught a turtle and I caught a tree!

There were walks on the waterway and a photo op
at the family beach home pier that Scott used to go to when
he was a little boy!

From our family to yours, we hope you had a beautiful and safe
Memorial Weekend!

Battle of the Sexes

Scott’s office is another room in the house that has been a work in progress.
As I’ve told you all before, Scott served 10 years in the Air Force and his dad served over
20 years in the Air Force.  So as you can guess Scott is no stranger to moving.
He was born in Japan, graduated high school in Iceland and has fought for our country on
3 tours overseas with countless moves in between.  For his office I envisioned a world map as the backdrop with a few shadow boxes to showcase his many accomplishments throughout the space.
We picked up the most awesome vintage teachers desk a while back for $30!!!
It gives off the most masculine and vintage feel.  I just love it!  Scott is on board with my envisions for the room except for the world map.  He is NOT a fan!
He instead would like to have a wood American Flag to hang behind his desk.  I have to admit I had already spied several on Pinterest that I loved but, I still had my eye on the world map.
Again, he’s traveled the world and I thought how cool?
Maybe even pin all the places he has been?  You know that say, “Pick your battles”
well I think I will wave my white flag on this one!
You win love...I think?!

What I envision...

What the hubby envisions...

And how gorgeous is this?!

I want to wish you all a safe and beautiful holiday weekend!
May we always remember and never forget those that selflessly fight for our country every day
so that we remain the land of the free and home of the brave!

Quote of the Week {Weekend Wrap Up}

Happy Monday to all my fabulous readers!
I hope you had an amazing weekend and soaked up lots of sunshine!!
It was a GORGEOUS weekend in North Carolina!

Friday we kicked things off with supporting Relay for Life by raising
money and awareness to save lives from cancer.

Saturday was a day filled with fun!
We started the day off ordering this little lady a pair of spectacles!
I've fought off the need for glasses for some time now and after waving wildly to what
I thought was an old friend Friday at the Relay only to get closer to realize I had NO IDEA who
this stranger was...It was TIME!
After, ordering my new "eyes" it was off to celebrate our
nephew Oliver's 6th Birthday!

After the candles were blown out a major water balloon and water gun fight ensued.
I wish I had pictures of my BRAVE sister in law Caroline soaking Scott!  Hilarious!!
Gotta love that brother-sister love!
After the birthday festivites we cruised downtown in Scott's truck to
check out the car show.

Saturday night we got to enjoy an evening with
great food and beautiful friends.

Sunday was the best!  Quality time with Sweet Mama!
We enjoyed a gorgeous lunch outside and then...we shopped!!

A friend of mine who is expecting her 3rd little one told me about these fried avocado egg rolls
from Cheesecake Factory and I could not believe I had never heard of them before.  They were SURELY made just for me!!  Mama and I were in love a first bite!! AMAZE!

Giving thanks for another amazing weekend!

 ***

As we all rush through this week to get to Memorial Weekend
my hope is that we all pause for even a moment to pay respect
to all of the armed forces that serve and protect us daily
and especially to all of those who have sacrificed their own lives protecting us.
I am especially thankful for my amazing husband and his 10 years of service to this country.  He has
fought to protect us and our country not once, not twice, but THREE times overseas! He is my
American Hero! Xoxo

Quote Of The Week

All gave some and some gave all
And some stood through for the red, white and blue
And some had to fall
And if you ever think of me
Think of all your liberties and recall
Some gave all
-billy ray cyrus

As cheesy as Mr. Billy Ray might be- I have to say the lyrics of this song get me every time.  They always provide a good reminder to pay respect and continually keep those fighting for and serving our country close in prayer.

Happy Memorial Day!

I Spy: Memorial Day

What a fun holiday!?
Memorial Day marks the kick off of summer (my favorite season) and most importantly it is a time to remember all those brave souls that have died fighting for our great nation!

I plan to spend Friday-Monday POOLSIDE with amazing friends grilling out and soaking up tons of rays!  Now to start the menu and cocktail planning and of course festive decor is essential!

This I LOVE...a wreath made from tiny toothpick flags!
