For the Love of Cooking {5 Must Try Salads}

Salads are something I am either completely craving or totally not in the mood for.   
There is no in-between.  Lately, I have been absolutely dying over any fresh leafy green greatness.  
Since, I am FINALLY feeling like I’m back on a health kick I decided to round up of a 
few salads of different varieties to hopefully keep me diggin’ on the 

healthy goodness and motivated.

Here are 5 salads that are totally on my must try list!

Easter DIY {Color Explosion}

Last weekend I decorated our home for Easter.

One thing I was missing, colorful eggs!

So, after a trip to Micheal's it was time to create a color explosion of fun!
 

 

{What You Will Need}

Embroidery thread (one color for each egg) I did 10 eggs so 10 colors

Water Balloons (one balloon for each egg)

1 Cup of  Sta-Flo Liquid Starch

½ Cup Flour

 

Give your lungs a pep talk and then blow up those pesky little water balloons.

Big thank you to my husband Scott, for helping me with this step. 

Mix together 1 cup of Sta-Flo and 1/2 cup of flour.

 

I highly recommend neatly placing your embroidery thread in your

paste to avoid any tangles. I just kinda looped it around the bowl in a circle.

It was craft day, don't judge the messy counter tops! 

After I wrapped each thread around the balloons, I set them aside on wax paper

to dry.  I highly suggest pulling the thread between your fingers as you apply to the balloon.  

This helps avoid a gooey mess.  I also would suggest wiping away extra goo before placing on the wax paper.  After they sat about an hour or so I would turned them to help with drying.  

After about 4 hours it was time to pop those balloons!  

The balloons easily pull through the thread with no problem, just be gentle.

Next, it was time for those pretty little eggs to meet Mr. Peter Cottontail!

These are a super easy craft that I think 

would be a total blast for the whole family!

Quote of the Week {And Weekend Adventures}

This past weekend Scott and I along with our dearest friends Rebecca and Greg and 

their beyond precious little ones Carly Grace and Raylee (who were two of our three flower girls) 

all decided to venture to Pilot Mountain and Mount Airy.  
 With the exception of my husband we have all lived in North Carolina our entire lives 
and had never ventured to these two locations.   

Since we are finally having gorgeous spring days in NC we decided a short hour and half drive 

for a day adventure was a must!  Mount Airy also known as Mayberry (yes where good ole Andy Griffith) stomping grounds were) was a quaint little town but, after walking main street, popping into a few shops, and of course stopping at Barney’s Café to eat we were off to Pilot Mountain.  The views were absolutely amazing.

This week’s quote is just a reminder to explore and travel as much as you can 
even if it’s a quick day trip with those you love!

Fashion Fix Friday {Spring Skirts}

Well hello there Friday...How you doing?!

(Yes, that was totally said in my best Joey Tribbiani voice)

I woke up this morning still sick but, so excited for the weekend!

Do I have big plans, not really, but I do plan to decorate the house for Easter and 

the bestie, her husband and kiddos might come over for laughs and a catch up sesh.  
Those things rank pretty high on the fun list! 
This morning the sun seemed to have a little extra pep in its step.

Maybe mother nature realizes that on Sunday those clocks are moving forward and 
it's time to say so long to old man winter and hello to sunny spring days?!

My Comfy Bed & Cotton

It’s official the weather roller coaster has taken me for a ride and I am now SICK!  

 From a beautiful 70 degrees yesterday and a low of 19 today with a chance of snow, I mean it’s kind of to be expected right?  Thanks Mother Nature, you’re the best!   
The only thing on my mind right now is my warm comfy bed which in turn then makes 
my mind drift to cotton stems.  I know, just a day in the life of 
a runny nose, watery eyed interior design lover.

I was just telling the husband and mother-in-law the other day that I need to grab a few stems to place in our guest bathroom.  I just love the purity and gentleness of the little white poufs.
