My April Wish List

You know how there are those items that you want and then those that you need...

Well... I NEED every single one of these and I don't believe for a second any of these are a "want"!
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

April Wish List

First up - this Malibu Skye Straw Bucket Bag is giving me life and um...yeah it's $68

Kendra Scott just launched her candle collection and I have yet to smell however, it's KS and we know we are all going to immediately love every scent!

American Eagle is a store that I haven't shopped in like YEARS, but I have to give it to them! Lately I am finding super adorable clothes at AE and recently some crazy amazing sandals at awesome prices. I've never been a huge fan of pink, but lately I seem to be gravitating to the softer tones like these perfect for spring and summer sandals.

Let's be real...Fixer Upper might have come to an end, but Jo Jo is here to stay.  I am so excited to get my hands on her new cookbook!

Ok! Let's talk the Opal House Collection!! It screams Anthropologie, but is crazy affordable and I need pretty much the whole collection! HA! I will most likely do a completely separate post on OH to show yall all the amazing items, but let's start with two items that I would love to add in our downstairs bathroom! The teal blue soap dispenser - this color is everything! The palm leaf canvas prints are pretty much what I'm counting on to pull this space together!
They are sold as a set for only $74!!

Last, if you have followed me for any length of time you know that I developed melasama during pregnancy.  This pretty much meant that my carefree days of soaking up sun rays were over.  I've always used spf on my face, but now I also toss on a hat! This Madewell straw hat is just what I need for our beach trips this year!

So I have to know...Have you shopped the Opal House Collection?
What did you purchase? What did you love?

DIY: The Perfect {Inexpensive} Bookshelf

A few months back I was on the hunt for a simple gold bookshelf.  I found that so many I loved were around $250 and up!  This just seemed a little crazy to me.  So I decided this gold bookshelf I was on the hunt for was now going to turn into a DIY.

After removing the gold element from my search I started to find several reasonably priced shelves that a can of gold spray paint would do wonders with.  I ended up purchasing the Vittsjo Shelf from Ikea in white for just $49.

Next to dress this plain Jane up to her full potential.
A trip to Lowes for a few supplies and we were ready.

Now that we have all the items, it's time to make this doll come to life.
I think it's totally up to you if you want to assemble before or after you paint.  I decided to assemble first, then spray.  Once I had the shelf together I started with the primer.  Even though the shelf was white, I still like to prime as it helps your paint adhere better.  Once the primer was dry, it was time to paint this beauty gold.  In the end I used almost 2 cans of paint.  It never ceases to amaze me what a can of paint can do for a lifeless piece.

The three middle shelves are glass, but the top and bottom are solid, some type of faux wood.
I decided to dress this piece up just a touch more by wrapping the top and bottom shelves in marble contact paper.  Seriously, this made the entire look of the bookshelf!

And...there you have it!

I couldn't be happier with the end result.  Sometimes I find it's the DIY pieces in our home I adore the most.  They just feel a little bit more special to me.

Must Haves {Winter Survival}

A high of 18, and a low of 3, with a windchill factor of ZERO?!
North Carolina weather has officially gone nutso!
Once I arrived at home last night after driving through a "snow-burst"
I felt myself shift into lazy mode.  Does anybody else feel like their total body shuts
down when the temps take a ride to burrsville?
As I lounged in my over-sized hoodie, today's post hit me like a snowball to the face.

It is beyond most necessary to share a few of my go-to items for Winter survival.
It's all about keeping you cabin fabulous without the fever!

Every morning and night I lather my hands with this goodness
There is absolutely nothing better than taking a hot bubble bath and
then slipping into cozy over-sized warmth
I switched to Estee Lauder products a few months back and to say I'm
a fan would be a total understatement
Just try, your lips will love you for it!
There will be no Risky Business sliding in these socks but
your little tootsies will be so warm
Might I suggest going heavy on the vodka and marshmallows
Once you part from your favorite glossy mag, curl up with books full of glamour and style

What are your go to items while surviving the low temps?!

Quote Of The Week

"She refused to be bored
chiefly because she wasn't boring."
Zelda Fitzgerald

There is something about Zelda Fitzgerald that has always captivated me.
I am debating now whether or not to read the newly released historical fiction
"Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald"
There seems to be a lot of mixed reviews...
Have you had a chance to read?  What are your thoughts?

I Spy {Chic Reads}

One thing I simply adore in a home is a stack of books.  Be it on an ottoman, chair, bookcase...doesn't matter.  There is just something so tres chic about your favorite reads all gathered together in display.
