Fashion Fix Friday {Marsala}

This week’s fashion fix is all about the 2015 color of the year…Marsala!
I have to be honest, I was a little surprised to see this as the Pantone pick for our featured hue as I usually find myself pulling this color mostly in fall and winter.  My wheels are already turning on how I can incorporate into my spring and summer wardrobe!

 What do you think of Miss Marsala?!

DIY Fun: #Dchic Project {End Table Plays Dress Up}

This past week I decided to take on a little DIY project and fix up an old end table.
 I found this gem when Scott and I were moving into our new home and treasure hunting through our parent's houses and storage rooms.  My mom had this darling piece tucked away in storage and I immediately asked if I could swipe it and have a little fun with the paint brush!
 This was by far one of the easiest furniture fixer uppers I’ve taken on and it has added
such a nice touch to our formal living room.

First I gave the pieces a good "bath" so it could shine pretty for it's before pic!

Then I sanded

 Next I put a coat of primer on- I made the mistake of grabbing oil based primer instead of a water based primer but, the end result was not affected.  Just a PAIN to clean the brush!

Next, a good ole coat of white paint!! Oh the wonders of paint!

The next two steps I completely forgot to snap pics of but, I picked up a $2 bottle of gold metallic paint from Hobby Lobby and a tiny little brush and painted the two crevasses around the top of the table.  The table I felt from day one needed a cute knob on it so again my old trusty Hobby Lobby supplied me with a $6 drawer knob and I had Scott drill a hole and ta-da! We have a faux drawer!

Here is the end result and I couldn't be happier!
This doll sits in our formal living room and I just love her!

Here's a question for you...I am thinking about painting the legs of our tufted grey chair white.
Thoughts??

For the Love of Cooking {Avocado Goodness}

If you've been around the Delightfully Chic Blog much it's no secret that I am obsessed with any carb out there and Mexican food is my go to comfort food.  Give me a dollop, excuse me, a big ole scoop of guacamole and my day has been made.  The husband and I make tacos at home at least once a week and I have fresh avocado every morning for breakfast. Seriously, the obsession is oh so real!

During some of my daily Pinterest scrolling I came across this gem of a recipe and immediately added it to my to-do list!!   I'm having some of my closest girlfriends over this weekend for a little social hour and I'm thinking I may have to give this a whirl.

I give you...

Avocado, Cream Cheese, and Salsa Puff Pastries

Quote of the Week {Our Year}

I couldn't agree more with this quote.
 One year ago today I said "YES" to the most amazing, loving, and caring man God could have ever put on my path in life.  In just a year we have said "I Do", sold my town-home and purchased our very first home together.  Here's to another amazing year together and in love.

A flashback to the surprise proposal and my dear girlfriend Brittany aka bridesmaid aka amazing photog friend hiding in the bushes to capture the moment.

Fashion Fix Friday {The Herringbone Vest}

In my “older” more “wiser” years I am trying really hard to take in what my sweet mama has preached to me for years!  “Buy staple, classic pieces for your wardrobe”.  I’m SURE you have all heard the same thing from your mom’s but, sometimes those super trendy, funky, I can only wear this one time because I’d just dieeee if anybody caught me wearing the same thing twice items are just so hard to resist.   Your classic pieces will be your go to items on days you can’t find anything to wear, those interchangeable pieces that switch up a look, those pieces you can keep for years and they never go out of style.  This is how I feel about the ever coveted herringbone vest!  It’s a must and a staple piece that’s not only stylish but timeless!

Fashion Fix Friday {Plaid Scarves}

I hope you all had an awesome NYE and started 2015 off right!
We went super low key and went out to dinner, then stopped by the ole Harris Teeter on the way home to pick up some bubbly and snuggled up on the couch for a Game of Thrones Marathon. Have y'all ever seen this show?? We just started season one and wowzers is all I can say!  I had no idea how "raunchy" the show was!  After the hubs fell asleep on the couch I flipped it over to Dick Clark's New Year's Eve and rocked out to my girl Taylor Swift.  How seriously AMAZING does she look these days? AND confidence for days...LOVE IT!  At 11:50pm I popped the booze and woke my hunny for a little 10, 9, 8, 7 action and a smooch!
Hello 2015 I hope you are just as amazing as 2014!

Ok, on to the good stuff…

Scarves!!
I honestly, do not think anyone can have too many scarves-
they are best accessory and can totally change up several different outfits by
 swapping out with a new scarf.
My latest obsession is plaid scarves.
 You would think this would be a simple find but, scouting the perfect one can sometimes be a little more tricky than one would think.

The hunt is real and continues...
