Palm-Tastic

One trend that is undeniable this season are those full of life and vibrant in color, gorgeous green palm leaves! Whether styled in a cozy nook, alone in a vase, arranged in a wall collage, on a pillow, or even as wall coverings,  this is a popular look that can't be missed.

Here are a few styled looks I completely swoon over and all the details on where to shop to bring a little botanical goodness into your home.

Our Daughter...Fiona Grace

I'm back!! Today marks one month since our lives changed forever for the better!  On March 25th at 2:10pm Scott and I welcomed our daughter Fiona Grace into the world.
After taking a month off to enjoy every single moment with our little angel I thought today would be the perfect day to return to "work" and start sharing all the wonderful events and pics that have happened the past few weeks.

Let's kick things off with Little Fi's 1 Month pictures today!

Quote of the Week {Weekend Wrap Up}

Happy Monday!! I hope you all had a relaxing weekend!  I am so excited for this week and the warm temps that are headed our way!!

This past weekend I was fortunate enough to have Sweet Mama and Mama Gaither swoop in to my rescue and tell me to "rest and put your feet up" while they tackled my Saturday cleaning and picked up last minute items for the big delivery day! I am beyond grateful I have not been put on bed rest! I think I would go completely stir crazy!  For us the weekend was pretty low key.  We tried to relax and soak up the calm before the storm.

Mama Gaither brought over my first spring flowers of the season! Spring through summer fresh flowers in our home are a must!!!

We even managed to decorate a touch for Easter and set the table for spring.

Yesterday, Scott and I escaped for a little joy ride in the '48 to wrap up our relaxing weekend!

As we welcome the warm days this week I leave you with these very wise words!

Ps...make sure to stop back by tomorrow to see Baby G's completed nursery!
Here is a sneak peek I shared on Instagram this weekend!

Get Prepared for Valentine's

We are less than a month away from Valentine's Day and all I can see is red!

This year why not dress up the standard chocolates, flowers, and cards?!
One thing I adore is when Scott surprises me with gorgeous bouquets that are out of the norm.  Skip the standard roses this year and give her an unexpected flower and even better, deliver them to her wrapped in paper instead of a vase.

Walk away from the chocolate this year and give her the always gorgeous and yummy macaron.

Last, but certainty not least, don't forget the card. Sometimes it's not the gift that means the most, it's the words written in the card that steals our heart!

And if cupids arrow hasn't gotten you just yet, why not treat yourself! I can remember many days that I bought flowers and macrons for myself because yes, while life as a single girl in her 20's and 30's can be a total blast, it can also be hard a times.  So go ahead...you deserve them!

Fall Bulbs = Spring Moments

It's been a while since my last gardening post
and I thought today some of you out there might could
use a little color to brighten your day as we hunker down
for yet another one of Mother Natures downpours.

Before we get to your color moment here's a
fun fact (insert Paul Blart voice)  I have always wanted to be a
Meteorologist reporting live on scene, specializing in hurricanes.
So, with that being said, I am BEYOND excited
to escape to Wilmington this weekend to endure even MORE rain
thanks to our friend Joaquin.

OK, now on to the color moment for all of you rainy day haters out there!
Here are my top 4 picks for bulbs to plant NOW so that when spring
arrives you will be the first to know as
these beauties start to poke their little heads out!

Happy Planting!

Modern Meets Traditional

Modern meets Traditional in this beautiful kitchen by Sage Design of Connecticut!
The clean marble countertops and backsplash with the white cabinetry and stainless steel appliances pull in the modern vibe. The stripe runners, dark wood barstools and dining set encompass
a traditional feel.  Together these two styles create a gorgeous kitchen that has me swooning in perfection.
The one simple design element that I find amazingly flawless in every way??
The massive flower vases next the kitchen sink that add life, color, and one perfect focal point.

DIY Fun: #Dchic Project {Garden Planters}

As you know by now, Scott and I purchased our first home
together back in November after we tied the knot in August.
To say I am in love with our home would be an understatement.
My "only" requests (my husband would laugh) was that our home not be brand new and it had
to have a large kitchen, 4 bedrooms, and CHARACTER!  I absolutely love the charm
that an older home brings.  I couldn't quite convince Scott that a 1920's bungalow or turn of the century Victorian home was perfect for us but,  I'm glad I listened and let him lead us to our home. Prior to Scott and I owning our current home, two other families were the homeowners for over the 38 years that it has been in existence. One family for 37 years, the next for a year and now, it's The Gaither's for hopefully a long, long, time.

We found these two old planters when we moved in and I don't know who left them behind but,
again old nostalgic girl here just thought instead of tossing why not keep a piece of
yesteryear around and make it new again.

So I give you my garden planters...brought back to life!

 What You'll Need
2- Cans of spray paint
I chose a satin black and a hammered brownish like color.
1- Roll of Blue Tape

1st- I taped over the detailed area that I wanted to paint
 my hammered accent color.

After I had sprayed black (sorry forgot to snap a pic) I then removed the tape from the detailed
area and taped the black just enough to cover and prevent me from spraying.

I let the planter dry overnight and ta-da!

Now my next mission...fill these pretty little ladies!

I chose one of my favorite flowers, hibiscous for my "thrill" and dusty miller for the "fill".  We
used the fuzzy goodness in our wedding so I have a soft spot in my heart for it.
Lastly, I added cascading purple pagodas for my "spill".
Now, we wait, I attempt not to kill, and we let mother nature do her thing!

Weekend Projects {Thrill, Fill, Spill}

This weekend I have a LONG list of DIY’s to complete around the house.
Luckily, I have already conned my sweet mama into helping me!
One item on the list is to update these 2 old planters that were left by the previous owners.
My plan is to paint them black and copper or a bronze color.
Just as soon as these beauts have been brought back to life it will be time for a trip to the
local flower garden to fill them!

 My plan of action?!

 Thrill, Spill, Fill!

I love this technique and it's a sure way to end up
with a gorgeous planter.

Here are a few planters from around the web
that have my wheels turning!

And this last one wasn't too keen on the whole fill or spill idea but,
how gorgeous are these topiary's?
We aren't even gonna go to the black and white stripe door.
#swoonmoment

Next week I'll be updating you on our progress this weekend so stay tuned!
