Creating a Masterpiece

Do you ever see an abstract painting, fall in love, then look at the price tag and go,
“I think I could totally do that myself”?!
I’m completely guilty of this despite that fact I have serious trouble even sketching
out a stick person, but hey I’m what you call a believer!

I really want to grab lots of fun and bright paint colors and
have one serious party on a canvas.
How fun would that be?!

While I am plotting my plan of attack I decided to collect a little inspiration.
If all else fails and my “masterpiece” is a complete disaster, then I have these gorgeous paintings
and talented artist to fall back on!

Fashion Fix Friday {Boho Chic}

Happy Fashion Fix Friday!
Who’s ready for a color explosion?
Me! Me! Me!
I am a HUGE fan of bohemian décor, linens, clothing, accessories, flower halos,
and the list goes on!  One of my favorite items that you will see be sporting around in the
hot summer months is my beloved embroidered cross-body bag from
Urban Outfitters that I picked up a couple of years ago!
I seriously will never get rid of this gem.  It’s so playful and holds everything!

This is a totally classic pic of my bestie Rebecca and I before leaving on
our annul girls beach trip…bag in tow!

I have been keeping my eye out for more embroidered clutches and cross body
bags and so far this is what I’ve found!

Show and Tell {Gretel}

Today we are having a little show and tell on Delightfully Chic.
I recently discovered Gretel, a super chic, full of color,  fun ultra-modern boutique out of Miami.
Abby Kellett, a British Interior Stylist founded Gretel just a few years back in 2009 and really
hons in on handmade pieces that are as unique as they are stylish.

Here are a few pieces from the current collection
I am totally crushing on!

Fashion Fix Friday {Sunshine and a Little Pink}

Guess who is dropping by our beloved Target on April 19th??
The one and only Lilly Pulitzer is staging a takeover!
The printed fabrics we all love and adore will be sprinkled
throughout the store.  Can you say overload...Target AND Lilly in the same place
at the same time...this calls for a cocktail celebration!

And a few other pieces from Lilly Target Collection
that tickle my fancy!

Who's ready to shop?!

Fashion Fix Friday {Color Explosion}

YALL!
SPRING HAS ARRIVED!
How excited are you?!
I am blooming like a daffodil on a sunny day!
This weekend Scott and I plan to finally head outside and start lots of
yard work around the house! There is a garden pathway that runs next to our home that I have
had my eye on and thinking cap on for all winter! Now it's time to start pulling my sweet garden space together!  I can't wait to share the progress of this area with yall!
If you are following Delightfully Chic on Instagram you just might see a
sneak peek this weekend!
 So enough garden talk-let's talk fashion!

I thought today I might share a fun pattern or how to wear white denim
or maybe the upcoming trends for shorts but honestly, I just want today to be
a complete color explosion of fun to welcome this new season that brings
a fresh beginning and new life to our days.
The time has come to "Live in Full Bloom"

You were born to dance to the beat of your own heart
to roam without cages
With the innocence of a child and the free spirit of untamed horses
I hope you laugh without stopping
Live with abandon and love like its all there is
Stay Wild…My wild wild child…

 Happy weekend my loves...
breathe in the beauty of mother nature
and look up and give thanks.

Easter DIY {Color Explosion}

Last weekend I decorated our home for Easter.
One thing I was missing, colorful eggs!
So, after a trip to Micheal's it was time to create a color explosion of fun!

{What You Will Need}

Embroidery thread (one color for each egg) I did 10 eggs so 10 colors
Water Balloons (one balloon for each egg)
1 Cup of  Sta-Flo Liquid Starch
½ Cup Flour

Give your lungs a pep talk and then blow up those pesky little water balloons.
Big thank you to my husband Scott, for helping me with this step.

Mix together 1 cup of Sta-Flo and 1/2 cup of flour.

I highly recommend neatly placing your embroidery thread in your
paste to avoid any tangles. I just kinda looped it around the bowl in a circle.

Yours truly creating a "masterpiece"!
It was craft day, don't judge the messy counter tops!

After I wrapped each thread around the balloons, I set them aside on wax paper
to dry.  I highly suggest pulling the thread between your fingers as you apply to the balloon.
This helps avoid a gooey mess.  I also would suggest wiping away extra goo before placing on the wax paper.  After they sat about an hour or so I would turned them to help with drying.

After about 4 hours it was time to pop those balloons!
The balloons easily pull through the thread with no problem, just be gentle.

Next, it was time for those pretty little eggs to meet Mr. Peter Cottontail!

Isn't he just precious?!

These are a super easy craft that I think
would be a total blast for the whole family!
