Quote of the Week {Weekend Wrap Up...BabyMoon}

This past weekend Scott and I really tried to take it easy and spend lots of quality time together.  With less than 10 weeks until we meet little Baby G and become parents we just wanted to really soak up the moments.  So on Saturday we stayed in PJ’s as long as we could stand it, then we tackled a few DIY’s around the house.  Afterwards, we continued our latest binge marathon of Breaking Bad.  Around 6pm I started to go stir crazy!  So we did what any 30 something married couple expecting their first baby would do…we went to the mall and walked laps!!!! You heard me! Oh how times have changed! Sunday morning we decided to wake up early and head to Blowing Rock for a mini babymoon!

It was freezing cold and there were snow flurries the entire time we were there! I loved every minute of our trip!

We started the day off at Canyon's!  The food and views were spectacular.  I really wish I could have captured the snow better.
They were expecting about an inch.

I'm sure it is no surpirse for those who know me that I went with the tacos!

Next, we headed to Main Street for a little shopping! I had to make the obligatory stop at Kilwins for a chocolate/caramel apple! Believe it or not, I resisted until we made it home.  It was the perfect "late night" snack.

Before, we started our way back home we made sure to stop by the Mast General Store in Boone.  Another obligatory stop! Scott and I both have a serious sweet tooth for candy.  I so hope my doctor isn't reading this post!

Our day trip- mini babymoon was just perfect!  It was all that I had hoped for.  QT with the man who makes my dreams come true!

 See ya soon Baby G...

Pregnancy Boots

I have had a pair of brown boots that I have "latched on to" like my favorite old sweatshirt for way too long now.  So for Christmas I asked for a new pair!  I have had the hardest time finding the perfect "replacement" so I turned the task over to Scott to handle and on Christmas morning he delivered the most perfect pair of shiny new boots in true Santa fashion.  I was OVER the moon excited and just loved them.  I immediately tried them on only to quickly realize that my pregnancy weight and newly swollen calves were having a total Cinderella stepsister moment and my "little glass slipper" just wasn't going to happen. The zipper was screaming don't do it...pleaseee! Scott, being Scott said..."Well we will just set them aside until after March and make a quick trip to Target (aka my second home) to pick up an inexpensive pair in a larger size to take you through the last couple of months of pregnancy." So, we did just that!

{Shop the Look}
My shinny new Vince Camuto Boots...
and my $44 Target Lace Up Find!

Now, today is my first day wearing my new lace up Target boots and I have to say...I am loving them! The laces are just "me" and hello no matter how much this body grows over the next 10 weeks I can just loosen up those little laces and keep on stepping!

Wishing you all an amazing weekend and leaving you with a little lace up inspiration!

Macarons, Marshmallows, and Meringues...Oh My!

Tomorrow I celebrate my 34th birthday!  I am not a cake person but I do love pretty things and I adore a macaron!  The other night I stumbled across this insanely fun and gorgeous Vanilla Bean Cake topped with Macarons, Marshmallows, and Meringues and my eyes nearly doubled in size!   I immediately sent this to Sweet Mama saying “you think you can whip this up for me on Thursday”?!  She rolled with laughter! You have to know that years ago I “tortured” mama with cake decorating classes and once we completed the two part series she swore she would NEVER bake or decorate another cake in her life!  I for one still hold what I learned near and dear, but hardly ever put my skills to the test! I am insistent that we recreate this cake one day.  Maybe for Baby G’s first birthday??

 Head over to  Fork to Belly and see how they made this gem for their first Blogiversary!

Winter Decor

After all the Christmas decorations have been tucked away for the year I start to feel that our home looks empty.  Then I immediately look around and realize I have the most clean and perfect pallet to style our home for the winter months. For me, I have two go to décor items every winter season, pine-cones and all things blue, silver, and white.  More specifically our Chinoiserie collection.  I will be sharing shots from around our home with you in the upcoming days, but until then here are a few from Pinterest (my guilty pleasure) to inspire.

What are your go to pieces when decorating your home for the cold winter months?

Quote of the Week {Weekend Wrap Up}

Happy New Year!!
I want to start off the very first post of 2016 by saying THANK YOU to all of the Delightfully Chic readers out there.  You have no idea how much your support over the past year (and since 2010) has meant to me.  I hope you all are enjoying to the new and refined look of Delightfully Chic and loving the new website! We still have so much up our sleeves and I can’t wait to share with all of you this year!

So, how was your NYE?  Did you put on ritz and hit the town?  Or did you snuggle on the couch in your pj’s like me?  I have to say there was nothing glamorous about our evening.  Scott was on call this past weekend and of course duty called.  However, being the awesome husband that he is, Scott swooped in at 11:30pm just in time for us to ring the New Year in together!

New Year’s Day and the remainder of the weekend was all about undecking the halls, FYI, so not as much fun as decking the halls.  We also took time to work in the nursery.  Baby G’s closet was originally this horrid yellowish beige color that of course just had to go!  So on New Year’s Day Sweet Mama came over to tackle this project for me.  This picture cracks me up, doesn’t it look like a total accident waiting to happen?  God Bless this woman!  I seriously don’t know what I would do without her.

Sunday was church, and then we took some time to celebrate my first "baby", Presley Hope, who turned 14 years old.  She might have a little trouble hearing these days and she might move a touch slower but my sweet Presley Hope is still the most loving lil' ball of fur that has ever graced my life! She still loves to play with her toys and now she's taken to snugglin' on Mama's growing belly AND every once in a while that feisty side of hers makes an appearance!! I pray little girl that we have many more years with you!

Now that the New Year is officially a wrap, it's time to turn the focus to...MY BIRTHDAY!  That's right! On Thursday this little lady turns 34 years old!  I have a feeling this year is going to be one for the books!!
