Snow Day Nesting

Did you miss me?  I decided to go MIA yesterday to enjoy yet another snow day and spend the day "nesting" and prepping for Baby G! I was able to get almost all of the little one's blankets, bibs, onesies, bath towel hoodies and wash clothes washed and ready to go.  I am not a fan of clutter so I have been slowly adding a little at a time to the nursery.  I have to make sure things are super organized and have their "assigned" place before moving into the room.

I also spent the evening (on Grammy commercial breaks) working on Thank You cards from our amazing baby showers.

Next on the list, take home outfits and time to pack those hospital bags!

Any suggestions on what we should bring to the hospital or what we should skip on??

Quote of the Week {Weekend Wrap Up}

Well we survived our first winter storm of the season and escaped with a total of about 5 inches of snow and ice.  As pretty as the snow was I had to enjoy from indoors! I took a second tumble this pregnancy on a patch of ice last Wednesday (after an hour of monitoring it was decided that Baby G is a “Show Off” (yep that’s my child) and is super healthy) so I made sure to play it extra safe and trapped myself indoors.  In the end my to do list became shorter and lots of projects and DIY’s were tackled around the house.

My view from our front door!

On Friday I decided to make Oreo Cheesecake Cookies.
Stay tuned for the complete recipe on the blog.

Freshly painted frames and new wall art I have been pulling together.
I will be posting this final look as soon as I hang these darlings!

I'm super excited about this piece.  I have transformed the shelves and as soon as the temps warm up I will be giving this bookcase a fresh coat of paint.  Stay tuned for the finished look!

On Saturday Scott made the BEST taco soup!  I am horrible about not finishing my meals, but not this time!  I finished the entire bowl and on Sunday we finished off the leftovers while watching the Panthers claim their spot in the Super Bowl!

I hope you stayed safe and warm throughout the winter storm!
Personally, I'm pretty excited about the expected 60° temps this weekend!

Winter Weather Beauty Must Haves

With snowy weather in the forecast over the next two days I think it's time we talk about a few winter weather beauty must haves!  Some of these I have tried and love, and others are newbies that I have added to my list after hearing great reviews.

 1.  Crane Humidifier: having a humidifier in your bedroom while you sleep at night can help with many factors you might face throughout the winter months such as nose bleeds and keeping your skin hydrated.  I personally love the Crane humidifiers because of all the fun color options and great price!

2. Caudalie Beauty Elixir: I absolutely swear by!  I spray my elixir on after I have completed my daily face routine and just before applying any makeup.  It not only refreshens your skin, but it also helps to hold makeup in place and hydrate your skin throughout the day.

3. Biosilk Silk Therapy: I have used since I was about 19 years old.  What I love about this product is that even thought it's of an oil substance it doesn't leave you feeling greasy.  I use about a pea size drop in my the palm of my hand and rub together then work from my roots to the end of my hair.  What's even better about this product is it serves two purposes; not only does it do wonders for your hair, but you can also apply to your skin.  Not to mention the fragrance is AMAZING!

4. Neutrogena Hydro Boost: Now this is a fairly new product on the market that I am hearing RAVE reviews on.  I have yet to try, but you can bet I will be picking up a jar on my next trip to Target.

5. Nivea Shower Body Lotion: To me this is one of the greatest inventions of all time.  I despise getting out of hot shower only to find myself shivering in my towel and the thought of staying in the buff for any longer than necessary is just insanity. So lotion that I can apply while in the shower gets a thumbs up in my book.

6. Clarisonic Mia 2: Here is another one I swear by.  I love my Clarisonic!  It gently penetrates deep into the pores and leaves skin exfoliated feeling as smooth as a baby's bottom.  They are worth every pretty penny...I promise!

7. Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Hydrating Cleanser:  This creamy cleanser is extra gentle on your skin and leaves your skin hydrated with moisture throughout the winter days.

8. Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Sheer Hydration Lotion: As you can probably already see I love Neutrogena products, but my heart also beats for all things Aveeno. From their lotions, to makeup removers, to their bath products you cannot go wrong.  They are all gentle and leave your skin feeling amazing!

What are some of your go to products during the winter months?
Comment below and spill the greatness!

Snow Day & Spring Daydreams

Last night started our first official snow storm of the winter for North Carolina.
We woke up to about 2 inches of snow covered with lots of slippery ice.
I know, I know, most would NOT call this a snow storm but hey,
we are in the south, and even a flake of snow clears the bread and milk
shelves around these parts!

After snoozing for an extra hour this morning the husband and I lounged
for a while then bundled up to walk the neighborhood to "survey" the roads.
Next, a Starbucks run and our usual weekly trip to Lowes!

To warm up a little we decided to head to the garden section
and start gathering a touch of inspiration for spring.
My wheels have been turning ever since.

Here are a few pieces I'd love to find on our screened-porch this spring.

Have you started your brainstorming yet for spring?
What looks have you crushin?!

For The Love Of Cooking

Did you hear?!
For the first time this winter the weather man says North Carolina can expect 2-4 inches of the fun fluffy white stuff tonight!
Heaven help the grocery stores!

I for one will be skipping the milk and bread aisles and warming things up with taco soup!
In an effort to keep things tasty but, simple I have decided to go with this recipe by
Melissa of The Faux Martha!

What's your favorite snow day recipe?!
