Fashion Fix Friday {The Almost Never Go Wrong Denim Shirt}

A denim shirt has always and will always be a classic that you
can never (well, let’s never say never) but almost never go wrong with.
Whether you rock it with layers (my personal fave)
 or keep it simple and classic, the look works.
No matter your skin tone or hair color, it just works!
 Don’t have a denim top in your closet?
Why not cruise your guys closet and swipe his for the day?!

Layered

Simple Classic

Boyfriend Denim

And because a girl always needs a little glamour in her life...

What's your style?!

Happy Weekend!

Finding Patience and Bedroom Decor

We moved into our new home just 3 months ago and are working room
by room to pull our forever home together.  I have been reminded so many times
that I need to have a little patience and that some of the envisions and plans
I have for our home will take a little time.  Example, no matter how much I want to believe
that each Saturday morning when I wake up I will head outside to
plant gorgeous hydrangea bushes, reality check, it's winter and with 6 inches of
snow on the ground as we speak, outdoor landscaping isn't happening right now.

One thing I can work on at the moment is the decor over our master bed.
Since we are newlyweds I do find myself leaning towards incorporating wedding images
over us as we dream.  But, I also want to mix things up a bit by maybe incorporating
drapes or shelving or some other eye catching piece.  As I'm snowed in again today
I took to my old friend Pinterest and a few glossy mags to brainstorm a little further.

Here is our room now...
Now remember this is a work in progress so just look over the drapes (they are being replaced)
and night stand updates are also on the to do list.

And here are a few ideas I'm loving...

What do you suggest?! What looks are you loving?

For the Love of Cooking {Mixed Berry Smoothie}

Yesterday morning I woke up to a total surprise of a snow covered yard.
I gave it my best go and ventured out to a slippery mess!
I get an A for effort but in the end after a short drive and FIVE slip and slide tricks in the car…
the snow won and back to the homestead I went.
As beautiful as the snow was I still continue to dream of spring and warmer days ahead.
So, yet again trapped indoors I pretended it was spring and decided with the remaining fruit
I had stashed in the refrigerator I would make myself a little tropical concoction full of fiber and antioxidants.

Here are all the details on my
Mixed Berry & Mango Smoothie

{What You Will Need}

1 1/2 Cup of Blueberries
1 Cup of Strawberries
1/2 Banana (optional)
1/2 Cup Mango
1 Cup Honey Yogurt (I suggest using Greek Yogurt for tartness and creamy texture)
1-2 Cups of Orange Juice (Adjust amount depending on your blender size)

*If you prefer a thicker smoothie freeze your fruit or if you are like me and like it more smooth just toss in about 4-6 cubes of ice.

{How to make it Happen}
Combine blueberries, strawberries, banana, and mango into blender
Blender should be no more than halfway filled with fruit
Add 1-2 cups of orange juice to the blender and blend until smooth
Add yogurt and ice (if you did not use frozen fruit) to your smoothie and blend until smooth and creamy

Pour smoothies into two large glasses and serve with a festive straw!

Bottoms up!

How to Host a Favorite Things Party

A couple weeks ago I hosted a "Favorite Things Party" with my bridesmaids.
After the wedding shenanigans came to a close on August 2nd we made the best decision!
Just because the wedding was over, the fun did NOT have to end.
We just loved all of the togetherness we were able to share over the 7 months of planning our wedding. So, we decided that we would each take turns hosting a party.
I decided to kick things off with a party that featured all of our favorite things.  Today, I wanted to share all the fun details with you so you can start this tradition with your girlfriends too!

So, how does it work?!

{Invite your favorite friends}
There were 8 of us which I felt was a perfect size

{Each friend will bring four of their "favorite things"}
(all 4 items will be alike)
We set a limit on the price so all of our gifts had to be $8 or less.  At first we all thought finding items at that price point and items that we loved might be tough but, we put our thinking caps on and all worked out perfectly.

{Each friend will fill out a "favorite things" sheet upon arrival}
Some of the questions I chose were favorite flower, favorite type of food,
favorite store, favorite guilty pleasure, favorite color etc.

Prior to everyone's arrival I had placed each persons name into a basket 4 times.

{How to play the game and gifting}
The host (me in this case) gathered all of the "favorite things" questionnaire sheets and read off the answers.  The host will also complete the sheet.  As I read the responses to the questions out to the girls, they shouted out who they thought the favorite things sheet belonged to.  Once I read them all and revealed who the sheet actually belonged to (I believe we nailed them all immediately-we know each other so well haha) that person pulled 4 names out of a basket and those 4 ladies received that persons favorite things item. Then I moved on to the next sheet...

Since each guest has their name in the basket four times, each guest goes home with four different items! I picked up small gift bags from Target for all to collect their goodies in.

I made place cards so everyone could see who brought what as we sipped champagne
prior to starting to the game!

A few close up shots of our favorite things!

Our first reunion party was a blast!
So much fun and I highly recommend you hosting one yourself!

We have already planned who will host what next so stay tuned!

Rebecca:  Kitchen Gadget and Recipe Party
Caroline: Makeup Tutorial Party
Christy: Craft Beer Party
Katie: Beach Bash Party
Brittany: Essential Oils Party
Austin: Cocktail Mixology Party
Tina: Butt Blast Workout party followed by Spiked Smoothies!

if there is something weighing heavy on your heart,
don't let another minute pass you by.  Go for it!
Listen to your heart, you are a lot smarter than you think!
Don't be afraid, chase your dreams and turn them into reality.

Fashion Fix Friday {Gingham}

Today marks the last day of New York Fashion Week and the collections for Fall 2015
 are but of course, nothing short of AMAZING!  I will spill all the deets on this amazing week soon but, before I can even go to fall we must back it up to spring! As if I were not already lusting for spring, now I am completely obsessed with the season more than ever (old man winter go away already) and dying to pull out a new spring wardrobe.  Some trends that were found on the spring runways ranged from fringe, suede, bohemian glam, trouser suits, and GINGHAM!

As a southern girl, I am super excited to see gingham back in the spotlight.
Elle Magazine has even stamped the pattern as the print of spring 2015!!

Here are few looks straight from the catwalk and few of my favorite street styled outfits.

So, are you ready to swipe your mama’s table cloth and
repurpose into something tres chic for spring?!
